Hello,
Aqua Life is excited to be working on a big project. We made this page because we would love to have you come along on the project and watch it unfold. The project we are working on is in a business where we will be installing three ponds and six tanks. We want to share some of the things we are working on. We will be doing updates as the project keeps moving along. Thanks for checking it out and enjoy.
The 500 Gallon Reef
The first tank we will be showing is the 500 gallon reef tank. We are excited to talk about this one. This is the frame work with a nice steel reinforce stand to hold it up. To the side you can see closet door for where the electrical for the lights and pumps ect. will be placed. It took six of the crew to help get the reef tank up into its home. Once it was settled we began the transformation. We had the live rock laid out so the crew could get an idea of how to stack it. Once the game plan was set they began to put the rock in. To make sure the rock we put in stayed in place we used a water safe foam that to hold the rock together without the worry of it falling over. The rock stack turned out quite nice in our opinion. While we had the guys doing the rock we had more crew installing the sump and equipment down below. Included in the set-up are protein skimmer, Phosban reactor and uv sterilizer along with external pumps to keep the system moving.
Freshwater Planted Tank
The next tank is the freshwater plant tank. The design has similar columns around it, so it will match with the reef tank in the main office areas. We also have a reinforced steel stand to help support the weight. This tank isn't as demanding as the reef so we will be able to work just under the tank for equipment. Also it has a nice tall ceiling so we can put the lights up in the perfect spot. After we got the tank in its spot the crew went to work on it. First we installed the sump with an U.V. Sterilizer and a CO2 reactor. Metal Halides were installed for lighting. This along with proper maintenance will make the plants grow fast and healthy. After the epuiment was put in, then came the fun part, we poured in a substrate designed for plants that will help them root and get the valuable nutriton they need. Finally we planted a nice collection of flora will rapidly grow taller and really fill the tank up making it nice and lush like a underwater forest. Can't wait until the tank is grown in!
Dual Side Reef Tank
This tank is a cool set up. just a quick overview, one side of the tank will be in the owners office and the other side will be in what they call the "War Room" for meetings. This one was a little tricky. We had to cut the stand perfectly for the tank to sit in the wall evenly. The side facing the meeting room will have a frame installed around it looking like a live picture. Once we had the tank in its place then the set up really began. We again used the special foam to hold the rocks in place so they wouldnt fall over, it enables us to build a unique rock strucure with caves and depth. Once the rocks were done we added the substrate, then the crew installed the sumps and circulation pumps to get the water moving. The real challenge will be making both side of the glass look natural and aw-inspiring in design. Challenge accepted! Check back to see future progress on this tank and updates.
The Corner Tank
This is nice corner tank going into one of the side offices. Nice thing about corner tanks is that they look nice in the corner without taking up a lot of wall space and room on the floor. The corner tank is going to be a salt water fish only tank. Once we placed the tank in the corner, it was a matter of time before it was ready to go. The crew put in the wet dry sump and protein skimmer along with a return pump and circulation pumps. Then we picked out some nice decorations to get a good mix of color and design.
The Ponds
We are installing three ponds around the facility. The first thing we had to do was find the spots that would best show them off. Once the holes for the ponds were dug out they had to install the liner to keep the water from going back into the ground. Once liners were in they had to postion the rocks to hold the liner in place while giving it a natural feel and look. The next step was installing the filter and pumps. We were able to place those in areas away from the pond so they can be enjoyed without the noise of the pump, while still having the necessary filteration going to keep the system alive. We have the big pond wich is the size of a pool! It is nice and deep and next to the company basketball court. Nothing could be more relaxing then playing some ball whith the soothing sounds of the pond next to you. The second pond is round with a long stream and waterfall. instead of pouring directly into the pond, the waterfall cascade a creek bed which flows into the pond. Please check back for updates on the ponds.
